Black America Again and Letter to the Free

Black America Again is a visual expression of the beauty, strength, perseverance and spirit of the black community in these troubling times (inspired by Common’s studio album of the same name).

Letter to the Free documents some of our generation’s most talented jazz musicians at the Queens Detention Complex, where they are asked to fill the hallways with their blessings and their spirited sounds.

Both films are directed and shot by Academy Award-nominated Bradford Young and feature rapper, actor, activist Common. Stay afterwards for an enlightening conversation with Lisa Sechrest-Ehrhardt about the themes and subjects raising in this 2017 Washington West alum film.
