Every year Washington West Film Festival teams up with AWS to spotlight Student Filmmakers in Loudoun County! Just as the Academy Awards has the Student Academy Awards, we have created a Washington West Student Film Festival dedicated to uplifting and spotlighting next-gen storytellers.
This year, during our third annual showcase, the competition is now open to ALL students across the Loudoun County School System. This year students may also use the opportunity to create a film for the showcase as the focus of their Capstone Projects.
The Showcase will take place on May 28th at Lightridge High School.
The deadline to submit your film is May 2nd.
Maximum run-time for submissions is 5 minutes. 4 minute runtime is preferred.
12 Films will be selected to screen in our Student Showcase and 2 Films will be selected as winners for Best Student Short Film & Best Student Short Film Director.
The Best Student Short Film & Best Student Short Film Director winners will receive a cash prize of $500 to support their future filmmaking endeavors, and all selected 12 films will receive our official Washington West Laurels. (Film Festival Laurels are an important part of film marketing efforts, Filmmakers use laurels on Social Media, Trailers, and Posters)
Submit your film for consideration to our FilmFreeway page, using the fee-waver code WWFFLCS2025. Good Luck!
