The Neighbors’ Window

The Neighbors’ Window tells the story of a middle-aged woman with small children whose life is shaken up when two free-spirited twenty-somethings move in across the street. It is the first foray into fiction by three-time Oscar-nominated documentary filmmaker, Marshall Curry.

Amaterasu

Amaterasu is based on a traditional Japanese story of the sun goddess and her volatile relationship with her brother, Susanowo. The film was shot entirely with marionettes and sets made of found objects, and takes the viewer into an unknown world of strangely beautiful landscapes made of baubles and bells.

This is a family-friendly film.

Christine Papalexis (Director, Writer, Cast) will participate in a Q&A following the screening.

Peggy

Everything seems to work out perfectly for Peggy, but her social graces are put to the test when she is surrounded by admiring and covetous parents at her eight-year-old son’s birthday party.

Smokescreen

How Does It Start

It’s 1983 and 12-year-old Rain wants to have sex. The only problem is, she has no idea what that means. With her self-absorbed parents distracted by their recent divorce, Rain is left alone to navigate the complexities of love and adulthood.

Apocalypse

With no companions, food, or shelter, a young Rohingya girl finds solace in a little ant inside a small sugar jar as she embarks on a journey of life or death, in hopes that together they will find a safe haven. Inspired by true events.

A film screening of Apocalypse will be followed by an open discussion with its award-winning directors: Samah Safi Bayazid and Muhammad Bayazid.

The Bayazids will discuss the challenges they faced producing a professional narrative film on a budget. They will share some anecdotes from their filming set in the remote jungles of Kuala Selangor. They will be also sharing some of their secret formulas to create visually stunning and award-winning films without breaking the bank.

Beach Day

Lexi and Sam’s normal day at the beach takes a dark turn when Sam suspects Lexi may have more sinister motives.

Max Silver (Director, Writer, Producer) and Rachel Sklar (Producer) will participate in a Q&A following each screening.

Miss Virginia
