With animation, interviews and archival footage, we follow women and girls in the DC metropolitan area who find community and inspiration in those who led the way for basketball to become their life’s work, whether they pursued the sport professionally or utilized the resources they inherited from basketball to drive their careers off the court. Led by coach Diane Richardson, who was amongst the first athletic scholarship earners for women during the enactment of Title IX, she had led the way and instilled in many women to use basketball as a tool to achieve success, education, and empowerment. Deemed the “Queen of DMV Basketball”, her care for the game and the young ladies she guided, has cultivated many professional women and lifelong basketball players.
