Rise
RISE is a coming-of-age short set in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. It follows a tough, resourceful boy living on a rubbish dump who crosses paths with a withdrawn former boxer. When the boy demands to be trained, the coach resists, but the kid won’t take no for an answer. As their uneasy relationship develops, what begins as survival training becomes something more: a fragile connection between two people the world has given up on. At a chaotic underground tournament in Harare, Rise is forced to confront the very thing he’s been running from – not his opponent, but the fear that’s shaped his life.
